On the morning of International Women’s Day I had the pleasure to indulge in raw chocolate cheesecake with feminist, horse rider and model Frida Gustavsson.

We’ve met many times before, but this time felt slightly more sparkly. Simply put, it takes an India lover to know an India lover. Myself fresh from Madurai, where I (among other amazing adventures) was visiting a recovery camp for former sex workers (will tell you all about that soon). And Frida (semi-fresh from her 5th trip to India) presenting her jewelry collection in collaboration with Andeliusgribbe, where 40% of the retail price goes directly to the Indian organisation Voice4Girls.

Voice4Girls runs activity based camps to empower and provide young vulnerable women with the tools to make informed choices and negotiate for their rights to stay in school and delay marriage (in India, less than 4 out of 10 girls complete primary school and almost 50% get married before the legal age of 18). Because “when a girl finds her voice, the world around her begins to change”…

This totally resonates with my own impressions from meeting and interviewing young women from similar surroundings in India. Therefore I will proudly wear The F Piece today, tomorrow and onwards, as a reminder of the values it carries within: F for Future, Forever, Freedom, Fight, Feminism, Fun, Frida and Filippa!
